Guilford/USA (WAI) – Antonio Ayala Reyna is president of Wire Association International (WAI), Inc. for a one-year term of commencing on January 1, 2009. Ayala will serve as the 55th president of the 79-year-old association, which is headquartered in Guilford, Connecticut, and has a subsidiary office in Pune, India. Continuing the efforts of his predecessor, 2008 WAI President Ronald W. Reed, Ayala will lead the association's growth initiatives, which include further expansion into the Asian markets and Interwire, the association's flagship trade show that is the largest of its kind in the Americas. Ayala became a member of WAI in 2001 and has served on numerous association committees. His contributions include instruction of a short course on extrusion for WAI educational programs, and translation of various educational and promotional materials directed at the Latin American and South American wire and cable markets. Ayala holds a degree in mechanical and electrical engineering from The Engineering University at Veracruz, Mexico, as well as an M.B.A. degree from Ohio University, Athens, Ohio, USA.
