Roller guides of the ZR series have been a feature of the Witels-Albert product range for several decades. Centric adjustment of the type A, B and C guide rollers enables the precise guidance of process materials with a large range of diameters. Types D and E are used to stabilize process materials in the horizontal or vertical direction. The permanent contact of the process material means that wear often occurs in only a very small area. As a rule just 25% of the roller length becomes damaged. However, because of the structural configuration of the roller guides used and the low maintenance strategies practiced, the user is forced to replace the only partially damaged rollers even though 65% of the roller length is still in perfect condition. This disadvantage is addressed by the guide units of the ZR SH series (Figure 1) by permitting the rollers to be shifted and refastened. The rollers can be secured in any axial position by specific clamping rings which create a frictionally engaged connection without the use of any tools. Users are thus able to shift the point of contact and therefore wear, extending the service life of the rollers by a factor of approximately four. Roller guides of the ZR SH are available for process material diameters from 6.0 to 250.0mm. Furthermore, the same principle can be used likewise to adjust the axial position of the point of roller contact and wear on guide rollers of the FA, FB, PA, PB, CA and CB series.
