Hemer/Germany (Koch) – Being on top of the heap – that’s the Ernst Koch GmbH und Co. KG with it’s latest coup de main: The company based in the German region „Sauerland“ acquired a 49% share in the Welding Wire Machineries s.r.l. (WWM) from the Italian city of Padova. Being the biggest supplier of modern technology used in the manufacturing of welding wires, WWM supplies producers of welding wires around the world. Koch has already implemented many joint projects with the company based in the North Italian city of Padua in the past. Thus the recent buy into WWM is a huge step forward for the wire-drawing machine manufacturer from Hemer-Ihmert, that currently employs roundabout 125 people. Koch expects it’s shareholding in WWM to result in even better cooperation in terms of the development of new welding wire maschines and equipment as well as in obtaining additional know-how in the production of welding electrodes and flux cored welding wire. According to executive director Jochen Koch, WMM could also partner with his long-established company when it comes to equipment that complements the drawing machines. „Working with WWM also allows us to enter the Italian market directly. This will facilitate both the distribution of our own machines and the commercialization of our joint projects while we will also benefit from the possibility to purchase additional components and equipment,“ describes executive director Thomas Voss the advantages of the partnership. Especially the access to the important Italian market gives the German company, that exports 80% of its machines, a considerable strategic advantage. Throughout the years Koch has established business relations in over 60 countries and has thereby become one of the leading manufacturers of wire-drawing machines for the steel industry. A network of international representatives keeps in constant and close touch with the customers around the world. These close relationships will be further strengthened through the investment in WWM.
