Master Bond is a new one component, high strength, low viscosity, flexible UV curable epoxy introduced by Master Bond Inc., Hackensack, N.J. This high performance compound is designed for bounding, sealing and coating. Bonds are durable, tough and resistant to a wide range of chemicals. It has superior electrical insulation properties and offers enhanced shock and vibration resistance. UV15FL has a service operating temperature range of -600F to 2500F. Master Bond UV15FL is not oxygen inhibited and produces a desirably fast cure rate at ambient temperatures even in the presence of air. The higher intensity the light source, the faster the cure. With a conventional 200watt/inch medium pressure mercury lamp cures can be obtained in 1 minute or less! Even with low intensity UV light sources, cures can be obtained in minutes. Post curing the UV15FL at 90-1250C for 30 minutes will give it a glass transition temperature over 1200C, far higher than conventional type UV systems. This post cure is also effective in enhancing chemical resistance, particularly to solvents. UV15FL has a viscosity at 750F of 120-150cps. It contains no solvents or volatiles. Shrinkage upon cure is less than 3%, significantly lower than that exhibited by free radical types of UV curable compositions. It has a Shore D hardness >60 and an elongation of 10-12%. Master Bond UV15FL has a 6 month shelf life in original unopened containers at 750F. It is available in pint, quart, gallon and 5 gallon units. For ease of application it is also available in syringes.
