East and South-East Asia and the wire and cable industry
Zurück
The industry and indeed our everyday lives would be hard to imagine without wire and wire products. The volume of business for the wire and cable industry worldwide in 2005 stood at approx. US$ 20 billion according to figures supplied by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and this figure is expected to rise to US$ 25 billion by 2010. With the growing global economy it is anticipated demand will rise still further in the next few years.
Most of the machines and testing equipment are fitted with electronic measuring and data acquisition systems, which deliver sets of high-precision data. However, only networked, near real time data acquisition, process control in quasi real time as well as an all-embracing database accessible by all involved in the production process enable real progress.
In the case of high hardness values achieved through intelligent coating architecture further developments in PVD coatings focus on reducing friction and thus saving lubricants. Cooperation between cold forming firms and coating shops can lead to considerable increases in tool life.
The suppliers of the wire and cable industry displayed their novelties at wire 2008. WIRE will present a collection of the exhibited highlights.
