Hemer/Germany (E. Koch) – Hemer-based Ernst Koch GmbH & Co. KG, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of wire drawing machines, and WTHK GmbH, similarly located in Hemer and specializing in manufacture of wire cleaning and coating systems as well as engineering and consulting, have jointly launched a new company: WiTechs GmbH. WiTechs has taken over the production facilities and most of the employees of Schwerte-Westhofen based GSG GmbH, and commenced operations on the first of January. GSG, with a focus on development and production of coating and cleaning equipment for wire manufacture, had been acquired in 2004 by the Wafios Group, which also holds shares in Koch GmbH & Co. KG.
With this startup, the participating companies close the chapter on the negative developments that had caused problems in various areas at GSG GmbH over the last few years. WiTechs GmbH will be run by the managing directors Lothar Köppen (part owner of WTHK GmbH) and Jochen Koch (general manager and part owner of Ernst Koch GmbH & Co. KG). Both are confident that the startup and close cooperation of the participating partners Koch, WTHK and WiTechs will result in “new perspectives for successful expansion and further strengthening of our position on the international markets”.
Wafios Group remains the owner of the property at the Westhofen location. WiTechs will maintain and continue to develop the production line there. The management will be based in Hemer.
In future, the Koch/WTHK/WiTechs alliance will not only offer machines and equipment for the steel wire processing and treating industries, but to an increasing extent consulting and services as well to “give fresh impetus to the market”. Particularly close cooperation will exist in development of package solutions combining Koch wire drawing machines with the appropriate peripheral equipment of WiTechs for individual customer requirements.
