Fit for the long haul
Zurück
Friesoythe/Germany (Leoni AG) – Leoni AG interface cables prove their durability every day, effortlessly surviving 10 million flat-side bend cycles in horizontal tracking chains at a bend radius of 50mm, displacement distance of 10m, 4m/s² acceleration and 4m/s velocity. The Fieldlink line of cables was subjected to exactly as many bend cycles in vertical deployment under the additional stress of ±180° torsion on Leonis in-house test setup. The survivalists among cables once again prove their endurance and remarkable fitness for the long haul.
The actuator-sensor interface with its high-grade IP6x protection is widely used in tough industrial environments worldwide, and in most cases the cables face a number of challenges every day in addition to the extreme torsion. From the very beginning Leoni has been developing application-specific cable solutions using special jacket material. In contrast to rubber-based products, thermoplastic elastomers (TPE) can withstand the extreme conditions of industrial environments almost indefinitely – IEC, UL and CSA licenses are proof of this and allow these cables to be deployed internationally. The halogen-free and flame-retardant variant (FRNC) made from polyurethane (PUR) features outstanding characteristics concerning tensile strength, elasticity, abrasion resistance, oil resistance and non-flammability. Furthermore, Leoni offers products that pass the aggravated UL 1581 ‘cable flame test’ as well as the UL/CSA-FT4 and IEC 60332-3-24 Category C bundle fire tests respectively.
