Fitchburg/USA (Headwall) – SPIE, the international society for photonics and optics, and Lauren Publishing, publisher of Photonics Media, announced that Headwall Photonics was named as a finalist for the 2009 Prism Award in the Sensing & Imaging Systems category. The Prism Award honors leading companies and products around the world that demonstrate the highest degree of innovation in the field of photonics.
“We are extremely honored to be selected as a finalist for this prestigious award. As a technology company focused on the design and deployment of hyperspectral instrumentation, we see this as an affirmation of our continued focus and differentiation as a leading provider of spectral imaging solutions” said David Bannon, CEO of Headwall Photonics. “Being named a finalist for the 2009 Prism Award is recognition of our engineering innovation and the technical leadership we've gained through the commercialisation of integrated spectral imaging instruments.”
Headwall was recognised for development and deployment of the Hyperspec Starter Kit, an instrument solution comprised of a hyperspectral imaging sensor, image acquisition and rendering software, translation stages, and illumination components that allow customers to rapidly and cost-effectively implement hyperspectral technology in life science and industrial application environments.
“Photonics technologies affect nearly every aspect of life – energy production and distribution, communications, consumer electronics, medicine, biotechnology, manufacturing, analysis of climate change, and security, to mention a few,” said SPIE CEO Eugene Arthurs. “The Photonics Prism Awards program is one way we are helping to accelerate innovation and move technology to market.” Category Winners in each of the categories were presented with their awards on 28 January at the Photonics West Conference.
