For high performance and flexible cabling in server rooms and computer centres Dätwyler Cables has developed a modular distribution system in addition to their pre-connected copper and fibre optic trunk cables, by which a particularly high packing density may be achieved in the distributor housings. The system consists of two housing variants of 1 and 3 height units, available in stainless steel or with black lacquering, which are equipped with distribution boxes to terminate the thin trunk cables. The copper distribution boxes provide RJ 45 ports at the front and optionally a Telco adapter or LSAplus contacts at the rear. The fibre optic boxes provide an MPO adapter as rear input and an internal fibre duct to the front side FO ports, e.g. LCD, SCD, and LSH-C. APC variants are also available upon request. Using this modular high-density system, it is possible to complete up to 48 pre-terminated fibre optic or copper ports per height unit – even composite, if required.
Two types of trunk cables are available for copper data cabling. The first one consists of six halogen-free, shielded and very thin twisted pair cables with 50 pole Telco connectors mounted on both ends. This solution allows a 1Gbit/s data transfer at a maximum distance of 60m. The second consists of six twisted pair cables Uninet 7002 4P which are connected to a box, including circuit board and LSAplus contacts on both ends. Using this solution, it is possible to transfer up to 10Gbit/s with a maximum permanent link length of 90m.
The fibre optic solution is based on a standardised 12-fibre MPO connector system. In this case the trunk cables consist of the proven Optoversal cables of maximum 144 fibers which are also very thin. They are connected to the required number of MPO plugs (e.g. 12 plugs for 144 fibers) on both sides via a distributor.
By using pre-connected, very thin trunk cables and thanks to the space-saving connection techniques (Telco, MPO) the new subsystem made by Dätwyler Cables allows very easy changes, or extensions, which could be performed during running operations within shortest time without laborious works on site in server rooms and computer centres.
