CABLE

New modern history of Prakab dates back to 1992 when it became a member of the current SKB Group based in Schwechat, Austria.
Namely in the last ten years, halogen-free FRNC cables with low gas emissions and maintaining functional ability to insulate when burning placed among important products of Prakab. These cables are manufactured also with silicone insulation, which was made possible by the installation of an insulation line for silicone processing.
From the technological point of view, the company is very well equipped, whereas the main machinery or parts of lines are not only from renowned European or world manufacturers of machinery but also from the domestic ones. All the lines as a whole meet the strictest criteria for complex production equipment.
The company’s range of products currently includes more than 10,000 types of cables.
These excellent technical facilities of Prakab exist namely because the SKB Group encouraged annual important investment into new machinery and technologies, which culminated at the turn of 2007 and 2008 when the biggest investment in the company’s history ever was made in Prakab. Under this investment, new lines for core insulation and stranding of cores of power cables have been purchased, a few current lines have been equipped with new parts and moved within the company. This rearrangement resulted in improved technological flow of production and thus increased production capacity of the company in the area of power cables of up to 1kV. Both in the ‘classic’ design with PVC insulation and PVC or HDPE sheaths, and in the FRNC design.
This investment also included installation and commissioning of a new modern copper wire drawing line. It represents two-pass rod drawing MM85 with two fully automatic reel winches, type S 800 D and two cage winches, WF 650. All the components were made by the company Niehof for which this line represents the biggest implemented investment in Central Europe. The line is designed for copper wire drawing ranging from 1.00 to 4.50mm.
Installation of this line combined with the older copper drawing line M85, also by Niehof, gave Prakab a copper drawing capacity satisfying not only current needs but also the prospect for a few years ahead.
All these investments made into technology, together with investments in the following years and with increasing work efficiency, are very good preconditions for continuing and developing the rich history of Prakab Pražská Kabelovna, a.s. in the times to come and thus give the opportunity to celebrate not only 100 years of the company history, but also the following anniversaries for successors.
