Armendariz to guide Wire Association in 2010

Guilford, Connecticut/USA (WAI) – The Wire Association International (WAI), Inc. announces the appointment of Dane G. Armendariz as president of the association for a one-year term that commenced on January 1, 2010. Armendariz will serve as chairman of the Board of Directors and as the 56th president of the 80-year-old association, which is headquartered in Guilford, Connecticut, and has a subsidiary office in Pune, India. Continuing the efforts of his predecessor, 2009 WAI President Antonio Ayala, Armendariz will lead the association’s growth initiatives. Organizational priorities for 2010 include strengthening relationships with wire manufacturers and driving more educational products into the industry. „Armendariz’s extensive experience within the industry and with WAI is extremely valuable as the Association is continuously evolving to meet the needs of the industry” said WAI Executive Director, Steven Fetteroll. „Armendariz understands the critical role of the volunteer in pushing more products through the pipeline and with his extensive experience he has significant respect from the more than 100 volunteers involved in the Association.” Armendariz has been an active member of WAI since joining the organization in 1993. He is currently serving in his second term as a member of the Board of Directors and is a member of the Executive Committee. He served on the Oversight Committee, co-chaired the Conference Programming Committee, and was chairman of the Suppliers Management Committee, of which he was a member from 1996-2005. In addition, he was a founding member of the WAI Ohio Valley Chapter and has served on the planning committee for multiple Interwire and Wire Expo shows.
