Competition through innovation
Zurück
Simplex Rapid is constantly trying to meet the ever growing needs of the customers by offering them unique and highly-technological solutions, and, as of today, it represents the state-of-the-art in technology applied to the production of compression springs. All innovations developed by Simplex Rapid over the years actually find an application in the spring coilers belonging to the current MC series. In most cases such innovations were real sector revolutions; the greatest competitors have indeed been trying to emulate their contents, thus implicitly recognizing their superiority.
All patents and innovations introduced by Simplex Rapid are the outcome of the minds and passion of the Simplex Rapid engineers, who have always been working in very close contact with the world leading spring makers.
Here are the main ones :
- Rotating cut-off
- Graphic programming
- Integrated measuring system through video camera
- Motion Control technology
To the advantages of these solutions, well known by now to most spring producers, one must add those deriving from Simplex Rapid's latest international patent :
- Preload control system
This very patent definitely stands for the major innovation in the spring sector in the latest years.
Thanks to this device adopting one or two independent controlled axes, the coiling points can rotate around their own axis during the spring coiling cycle. The patent cleverness lies precisely in the possibility of having the coiling points rotate around their own axis, which is technically easier and much more effective than what other manufacturers are compelled to do not to break the Simplex-Rapid patent.
Modifying the preloading value inside the spring body (spring segments with different preloading, first turn, spring body, last turn) implies the following advantages :
Cylindrical springs:
- Perfectly symmetrical first and the last coils, thus getting springs with identical grinding planes even with extremely heavy preloading values.
Tapered springs:
- It is possible to vary the preload in an optimal way by adjusting accordingly the preloading value to the different coiling ratio between the first and the last coils, thus succeeding in getting springs with properly closed initial and final coils without deformation.
High-pitched springs:
- It is possible to have the coiling point next to the pitch tool rotate by perfectly following the helix angle generated by the pitch inside the spring body. This makes it possible for the wire to always have an optimal contact inside the coiling point groove even while performing high pitches, thus guaranteeing a perfect wire surface quality and considerably limiting the reduction of the spring body diameter if compared to its ends.
Extension springs with critical load:
- It is possible to modify the preloading values in each spring body segment according to project needs in a very simple and easy-to-control way, for example as requested for jacquard springs in weaving machines.
Special applications:
- By rotating the coiling points it is possible to modify the spring end geometry, thus obtaining very special contact profiles that it would otherwise be impossible to get.
Above scenario clearly shows how this patent really is an epoch-making improvement for the compression spring sector, as it makes it possible not only to wholly eliminate major problems typical in spring production so far, but also lets the user benefit from the following practical advantages :
- Preload is a single digital numeric value, and as such, it can be modified, repeated and memorized.
- First machine set up, and all successive set ups, are made much easier.
- No more need to carefully prepare the coiling points and, hence, decreased need for highly-skilled labour.
