Düsseldorf/Germany (SMS Group) – Shanghai Datun Energy Resources Co. Ltd., China, has placed an order with SMS Demag AG, a company of the SMS Group, Germany, to supply a CVC plus six-high cold rolling mill. This is the tenth order for an aluminum cold rolling mill for SMS Demag in the past five years.
The cold rolling mill will be rolling strip material from aluminum or aluminum alloys and, for Shanghai Datun, it represents the first step towards the manufacture of flat-rolled products. The mill is also intended for the production of input stock for foil manufacture and of the finished material itself.
The mill is designed for the rolling of strip in the widths of 960 to 2,150mm and a final gage of at least 100µm. The maximum coil weight is 20t. The annual capacity is 110,000t.
The six-high stand comprises CVC plus shifting (Continuously Variable Crown) for the intermediate rolls, an HES system (Hot Edge Spray) for influencing the strip edges, and a DS system (Dry Strip) for minimising the residual oil quantity on the surfaces of the exiting strip.
A coil preparation system and a pallet transport system for coils serve to complete the rolling mill and thus guarantee high-quality rolled products.
This will also enable the mill, which is equipped with all the utilities systems, to become the central production facility in the new works at Xuxhou in the province of Jiangsun, China. The start of production is scheduled for early 2011.
