Big benefits to mold-makers

Feature aware machining preserves fine, sharp-edge detail and highlights while producing smooth finished molds. VX Corporation, specializing in CAD/CAM for consumer products and molds, announces Offset3D Feature Aware Machining that helps mold-makers produce high quality, smooth surfaced molds with crisp, fine highlights.
Mold-makers are faced daily with the daunting task of machining complex core/cavity shapes derived from a variety of sources that include non-native CAD models, STL representations and even point cloud data. A particular challenge faced by mold-makers is ensuring that product features with crisp highlights are maintained and preserved in the finished mold.
To solve this challenge, VX has developed a new QuickMill machining tactic called Offset3D Feature Aware Machining. Offset3D Feature Aware Machining is fully integrated with CAD, extremely easy to learn and use, and provides a very robust solution. This robust solution, in addition to producing accurate tool paths, is extremely fast to help mold-makers keep up with part and mold designs that change often and quickly.
Offset3D Feature Aware Machining lets mold-makers target highlight areas, and then the software automatically adjusts tool path motion to preserve fine, sharp-edge detail and maximize tool cutting efficiency with smooth, high-speed enabled motion.
"Mold-makers will definitely save machining and polishing time by employing this revolutionary new tactic", says Bob Fischer, VX Vice President Sales and Marketing, "In some cases, they may even eliminate mold polishing altogether."
Offset3D Feature Aware Machining is available with the upcoming release of VX CAD/CAM Version 13 since September 2007.
