Dätwyler Cables introduced Optofil Micro, a fibre optic system especially designed for city carriers for cost-effective “last mile” installations to the customers´ premises. This new cable and underground duct solution allows very flexible Fibre-to-the-Kerb or Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTK, FTTH) installations. The system consists of the thinnest fibre optic cables, available in various constructions with a maximum of 72 fibres, and a flexible duct system which can be fed with micro ducts called “Speed Pipes”. Both can be blown in when needed in lengths up to one kilometre. Special half-pipe branch connections that are gas and water tight can be easily mounted on all segments of the ducts wherever it is necessary to connect new customers. Another feature of the micro duct system is reusable seals.
Dätwyler will also present FO cables with laser optimised fibres. Employing these cables customers can transmit 1 and 10Gbit/s in LAN and SAN connections to longer lengths: With OM2+ fibres it is possible to reach up to 750 respectively 150 meters (850nm). With OM3+ fibres laser signals of 4700MHz x km can be transmitted up to 550 meters.
„Whether WAN or LAN: Our cost-effective fibre optic cabling systems offer a sophisticated solution for all applications and effectively support every infrastructural project and extension. The biggest advantage for our customers is the flexibility and modularity of every system which helps them to keep their investment in infrastructural projects at a low level“, says Thomas Gehrke, Product Manager Fibre Optic.
