Filtration and briquetting in a single unit

Liquid sugar, cooling lubricants or contaminated waste water: the compact filter system Maxflow is an appropriate solution for a wide range of filtration tasks. This innovative concept combines filtration and discharge of the solid filtrate as briquets in a single unit, and is particularly suitable for deployment in process filtration. Maxflow works without filter aids, or, if these are needed, with considerably lower quantities of filter aids than usually needed, and yet it allows particle separation down to the micro-filtration range. Process media are subjected to less transportation and component substances are better separated for optimal disposal.

Each filter unit has up to six filter discs, made of filter mesh selected to match the specific process, which are aligned vertically in a stainless steel case. The filtrate streams around them according to the cross-flow principle. Automated backwashing detaches the filter cake from the filter discs, then the solid residues are discharged as sludge or in the form of compressed briquets. The tank system of this compact system can be vertically expanded to meet the needs of the particular process.
Maxflow is available in three variants. The plug&play solution is a fast and effective solution to a great number of typical process requirements. A proven alternative is to adapt the individual components, for example by adding another filter disc to the unit. Finally, the implementation of a complete system, which can be custom adjusted to meet both known or as yet unencountered customer requirements, offers even further possibilities for application.

Efficient and cost-effective

Production and process waters in the automotive, machine tool and metalworking industries call for efficient filtration processes. Maxflow filters the cooling lubricants, emulsions and oils used in lapping, grinding or honing, without the use of filter aids. This makes Maxflow an appropriate choice of filter system, even for process water generated in surface technology when tools treated in oil are washed and rinsed, or during paint stripping processes. Another decisive contribution to the efficiency of this patented system is the huge cost-saving through reduced expenditure on disposal of the non-drip briquets and through recovery of recyclable materials and process media.

Recovery of catalysts

A major argument for the use of Maxflow in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries is its effectiveness in the recovery of products or catalysts and in the treatment of process or waste water. Filter-aid-free filtration with Maxflow prevents catalysts from mixing with precoat aids. This substantially reduces costs for expensive replacements and for disposal of contaminated waste. Along with integrated sludge compression and consistently high efficiency, the operational reliability of the Maxflow system is yet another convincing argument for its deployment in the treatment of process and waste water.

Hygienic and space-saving

Whether in product filtration, for example of liquid sugar, or in the treatment of process, rinse and waste water in the drinks industry, the compact filter system is convincing because of its small footprint and its optimal adjustability, also in terms of dealing with smaller batches of different charges. The Maxflow unit's capacity, hygiene, low maintenance requirements and optimal handling make it suitable for a range of applications in the food-processing industry, too.

On-site treatment

The demand for efficient treatment of contaminated waste water opens up huge application potentials for this innovative filter concept in terms of appropriate processing of ground water and landfill leachate in order to protect human health and the environment. The enormous quantities of waste water generated during the cleaning or sanitation of gas, water and oil pipelines can be treated on-site using Maxflow and rendered into recyclable process water. This cuts the previously inevitable high costs of transporting the contaminated waste water away and disposing of it somewhere else. In addition, compression of the residues into non-drip briquets reduces the volume of special waste to a fraction of its former scale.

International deployment

GKD-CompactFiltration's Maxflow concept is a tried and tested serial product with the flexibility needed to be integrated into any customer-specific process. It has proven its efficiency in terms of meeting established standards and as a made-to-measure individual solution. Thanks to worldwide standardized parts and the global presence of GKD through six production facilities, the Maxflow system can be deployed anywhere in the world with equal efficiency. Comprehensive solutions competence, covering all stages from initial layout and dimensioning through to commissioning of the equipment and later expansion or modification to adapt it to changing production conditions, qualifies GKD-CompactFiltration as an efficient systems supplier and reliable technology partner in all stages of the process.
