US market: German manufacturers increase sales despite shrinking market
Zurück
Frankfurt/Germany (VDA) – The VDA (Association of the German Automobile Industry) reports that this year so far, the German manufacturers have done considerably better on the tough US market than the American and Asian brands, achieving a good rise in their market share, to 6.4 percent. They were the only manufacturers to improve their figures, selling 629,000 light vehicles (+1 percent).
The German manufacturers were relatively successful, especially on the passenger car market, which is receiving more attention in view of the high fuel prices. They sold 520,000 units, i.e. 3 percent more vehicles, while the overall passenger car market slumped by 2 percent in the period to August. This means that they were able to expand their market share in this sector to over 10 percent.
