What you will!

“A new broom sweeps clean,” the adage goes. Another proverb states: “No man was born a master”. Broom? Master? Such proverbs naturally call to mind Goethe’s Sorcerer’s Apprentice. In this particular case, however, we are talking of a very different kind of poetry, namely that of our technical magazine WIRE.
Whilst everyone can find a more or less fitting proverb for every situation, people have known for millenia that a new broom isn’t always the solution: Whilst new is refreshing and promises to bring change, a spanking new broom still has to be suitable for the job in hand. This is why we can choose from fine, coarse, hard and soft, thin, thick, large and small models to fit the purpose and location of the job.
To ensure that we at WIRE continue to select the right brooms and sweep along the right paths, we need your help. This is because we are here to serve you and bring you a magazine that meets your needs. So please write in and tell us what you like and don’t like about WIRE, what you miss and what you could do without, what can stay as it is and what you think we should change! We can only live up to your expectations if we know what they are. You can email us at wire@meisenbach.de.
Since the beginning of September I have been in charge of the content of this title, however, I can neither be equated with a broom nor a master. I learnt to read and write about half a century ago, and I have been paid for this ability for the past quarter of a century. After studying mechanical engineering and business sciences at the Technical University of München I worked for various consultancies, specialising in capital goods market research.
In 1997 I was appointed editor and deputy editor-in-chief for specialist publications serving the chipless and chip-removing metal processing sector. When it comes to wire, therefore, I am still something of an apprentice. I can only become a master with a helping hand from you.
Which is all the more reason to write to us!
