Reutlingen/Germany, Wasen/CH (Wafios) – As of January 2008, the German Wafios AG will take over the majority of shares of the long-established Swiss Mewag Maschinenfabrik AG. The merging of the two technically leading manufacturers of tube and profile bending machines will strengthen the quality and innovation leadership of both companies. The production of special high-quality machines will be continued in both plants.
A few year ago, Wafios AG, world-wide leading manufacturer of wire processing machines, took over the tube and profile bending know-how of Pulzer Biegetechnik which then had been a corporation of the company Trumpf (Ditzingen, Germany). Since then Wafios AG has been able to continuously expand its range of tube forming machines. A comprehensive and innovative center of competence is created and will receive worldwide recognition when Wafios takes over shares of the renowned Mewag Maschinenfabrik that boasts 50 years of tube and profile bending know-how. The long-established production sites in Reutlingen, Germany, and Wasen, Switzerland, will be maintained and expanded in accordance with the growth of the tube bending sector.
The main beneficiaries of the complementary, innovative and extended product and customer service range are the customers of the two companies. Future common sales activities and a hand-in-hand co-operation in development, purchasing and production, set the course for ideal, high-tech tube and profile bending solutions. The customer’s benefit will always be the focus of their corporate thinking and acting.
Wafios, too, directly benefits from the cooperation with Mewag as it will result in a considerable growth in sales, especially of large-diameter tube benders, and thus in an even quicker establishment in the market.
Moreover, the merging of the two companies constitutes a lasting solution to Mewag’s successor question. The previous majority shareholder of Mewag will have a seat in the Administrative Board where she will be able to continue to protect the long-term interests of Mewag.
Wafios and Mewag are looking forward to this German-Swiss co-operation and are convinced that added value will be generated for customers, partners and employees of both companies.
