Düsseldorf/Germany (SMS Group) – SMS Demag, a company of the SMS Group, Germany, has successfully put into operation an X-Cast single-strand continuous slab caster for Amurmetal, Komsomolsk-on-Amur, Russia. The SMS Demag supply scope contained the mechanical equipment, supervision of erection and commissioning and the training of the operating personnel. SMS Demag also supplied the complete X-Pact electrical and automation package. The slab caster is designed for slabs in the gages 150, 200 and 250mm and widths between 1000 and 1900mm. The designed annual capacity of the caster is 1 million t of steel slabs. Amurmetal uses several continuous casters to produce long and flat products. X-Cast is an SMS Demag trademark from the Continuous Casting Division.
