Modifiers for improved wire and cable compound performance

Fusabond N525 is an offer for the HFFR compound market. “Poor flexibility is a common drawback with HFFR cables. By replacing existing coupling agents with Fusabond N525 the compound flexibility is significantly improved while other properties like strength and elongation are maintained,” says Gustav Jannerfeldt, market segment leader for wire and cable at DuPont Packaging & Industrial Polymers. Fusabond N525 has the same high and consistent quality level as other Fusabond grades currently used in the wire and cable industry.
Apart from presenting its new coupling agents, DuPont Packaging & Industrial Polymers is also promoting the use of Elvaloy ethylene based terpolymers in HFFR cables. By adding highly polar Elvaloy terpolymers to the compound, both oil- and chemical resistance as well as low temperature flexibility are improved. Processing short comings normally associated with highly polar high VA content EVAs, such as blocking of pellets, are not present with Elvaloy.
