Measuring, control, inspection, sorting and analysis technologies

May 2019 — Sikora introduces state-of-the-art High-Speed-Technology (HST) that is tailored to the demands of MV, HV and EHV cable production.

The German company will showcase innovative measuring, control, inspection, sorting and analysis technologies. They contribute to the highest product quality, process optimisation and cost saving in the wire and cable, optical fibre and plastics industries. The newly launched “X-Ray 8000 Advanced” will be a highlight at the booth. With the X-ray based system,  It represents an advanced alternative to the successful and proven” X-Ray 8000 NXT”. The system is equipped with 16 measuring sensors and measures the diameter, wall thickness and eccentricity of cables in CV lines up to 10 times faster than the X-Ray 8000 NXT, and thus, is predestined for an even more efficient control and information transparency in terms of Industry 4.0.

Also presented will be the “Preheater 6000 TC” (abbreviation for Temperature Controlled), an intelligent solution for precise preheating of the conductor to the nominal temperature. A reliable conductor preheating during the production of high-quality cables, especially for automotive and data cables, is essential to ensure an optimal adhesion of the insulation on the conductor respectively a controlled foaming. ?Sikora will also present its wide range of measuring systems for quality control of optical fibres at different positions in the drawing tower. There will be systems shown for the measurement of the diameter and the position of the naked and coated fibre as well as for the determination of the tension and detection of airlines. Furthermore, gauge heads are displayed for the measurement of the fibre temperature. They are installed at the hot position of the drawing process, to determine the temperature for the control of the furnace, and at the cold end, to exactly dose the Helium used for the cooling. In addition, a gauge head for the determination of the concentricity of the coating as well as for the detection of lumps on the surface of the coated fibre is exhibited.

The portfolio also comprises products for plastic material inspection. The system to be shown for the first time at “wire Russia” is the “Purity Concept X”, an offline inspection and analysis system, based on X-ray technology. It detects and analyses e.g. metallic contamination both on the surface and inside of transparent, diffuse and coloured plastic material.
